Music Monday | Katy Perry

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m a HUGE Katy Perry fan. She is completely gorgeous and can the girl sing… or CAN THE GIRL SING?!

Right  now one of my favorite songs of hers that is all over the radio is Wide Awake. Now from what I’ve read is that this song is based on the fact that Katy was getting tired of being mainstream and it was her realization that she wanted to change. I would have thought it was about her split with Russell Brand. Whether or not that is the true explanation of this song, I’m not sure… but either way it is quite the hit for me. It has more than one meaning… what it means to her, may not be the same meaning for us.

I did find this article on Mtv.com, where one of her fans asked what she wanted her fans to feel from listening to this song.

“Well, this song, I have a lot of different emotions and feelings in all of my songs,” Perry revealed. “This song in particular is a dose of reality. It’s kind of like coming down from a high. You’ve been on cloud nine for so long, and it can’t always be so sweet and sometimes you need to realize that, and you have to pick yourself up and move forward and face the facts of life and know that this is just a lesson you learn and you’re stronger because of it.”

Click the photo above and you can read the whole article and see her interview. What do you think of this song? Will you be going to see her documentary, Part of Me?

  1. I’m not exactly a Katy Perry fan…. It’s not that I don’t like her, I just don’t listen to her type of music that much. That being said, I think she has a great voice, and I really liked this song that you posted. I may have to check out more of her stuff beyond this and “Firework”, which coincidentally is pretty catchy 🙂

    1. Yeah all of her songs are pretty catchy, I just liked this one a lot more because it doesn’t sound like anything else she has put out.
